Help Kids Cope is an application created to aid parents in addressing various disasters with their children, whether they are anticipating such events or have already gone through them. It covers a wide range of 10 disaster types, each section offering guidance on how to talk about, prepare for, respond to, and recover from a particular incident. The content is tailored for preschoolers, school-age children, and adolescents, offering support for parents on coping strategies and understanding their children's reactions. Throughout the app, there are audio icons featuring parents sharing their personal stories—by tapping on these icons, users can listen to these stories (ensure that the device's sound settings are adjusted to hear them).
Help Kids Cope is a joint initiative by the Ozark Center and the National Child Traumatic Stress Network with the objective of assisting parents in addressing disaster-related discussions with their children.
